This is a selection of works between years 1994 through to 2005, when I painted about the war in the islands - or used imagery from that period. It was never my intention to paint about what happened. As a younger artist, before and during study years, I'd also avoided it. Then, in 1994 - after drawings for a Rememberance Sunday social event for a local charity, I realised figures I'd crudely depicted resembled more soldiers from the 1982 War than anything else; I'd unconsciously begun recreating things I'd seen as a thirteen year old child.

The work lasted about ten or so years - from expressive figurative work, to thickly painted landscapes after the battle, to sparser semi abstract images and further drawings, before finishing with a show in Buenos Aires relating to the passing of my father, in December 2005.

Most of the works over that ten year period sold. Others I destroyed in 2017.

A handful remain, which I've included several of here.

A Family Story

My mother's partner - whom she met a year or so before the war, was an employee of the Argentine state fuel company, which ran a gas station in the islands pre 1982. My father, previously Chief of Police in the islands - and following the Argentine invasion - left Stanley, and hid in the farm areas around Green Patch, before travelling to meet the British Forces arriving at Port San Carlos. He then acted as an armed guide with the Parachute Regiment, and took part in the battle of Mount Longdon.

There is a link to a published book (English version) on my home page.

It details life in the islands pre 1982, the War plus my period in Buenos Aires (I've three sons - one born in the islands, two in Buenos Aires).
